City Today - September 2009
Welcome to the latest City Today, bringing you all the latest from EducationCity.com!
MOVING ON UP TO NEW OFFICES
Due to our continued growth, EducationCity.com is pleased to announce we’ve moved to bigger premises on both sides of the Atlantic.
In the UK, we have found a new home in Oakham in the heart of the Rutland countryside, where we have a 9,000 sq.ft. state-of-the-art office.
Matt Drakard, Director of EducationCity.com, says: “This is a very exciting time in our development. Our new offices give us the space we need for our staff, who will take us to the next level in both the UK and US, and for our extensive systems infrastructure.”
Please note: Our new telephone number is 0844 225 3060.
US AWARD WINS
EducationCity.com has hit the educational technology headlines in the United States twice this month, having won two Learning Magazine 2010 Teachers’ Choice Awards and an Education Software Review Award (EDDIE)!
Matt Kwak, Vice President of EducationCity.com in the US said, “We are delighted and honoured to have been awarded these accolades, as they offer both teacher and industry endorsement for our product.”
EducationCity.com launched in the United States in December 2006 and now has over 3,500 subscribing schools.
WHITEBOARD BUTTON
Have you spotted our new whiteboard mode button?
It combines our previous Whiteboard button and Play on each activity page, so you can start a whiteboard activity with just one click.
This simple feature is available for use now and replaces both the Whiteboard button on the activity page and the AutoWhiteboard button within Features with our new look.

NEW ACTIVITIES
From our recent questionnaire, you said you would like more information on the new activities we add each and every month. As a result, we've included the new activities we've added recently below, but very soon these will updates will be available on the resource, within the “What’s New” section of the new Teacher Area. As you’ll have seen from our Back to School email, our Key Stage 1 German module was launched in early September. In addition to that, we have added the following:
Literacy
Text Features Tool (Years 1-7) - Explore the features of different kinds of text.
Dragon’s Pendant (Year 4) - Through directing a move scene, understand that behaviour can be interpreted from different viewpoints.
Maths
Angles Tool (Year 3, 5, 6 and 6+) - Explore angles and the use of protractors.
See you next month!
