2006

By 2006, EducationCity.com was a well recognised name in the UK’s education sector. It had over 3,000 schools subscribing to it, and was both a 2006 BETT Award winner and double ERA Award Finalist.

Not one to rest on its laurels, however, EducationCity.com remained committed to its programme of ongoing improvement, evidenced in 2006 by the launch of its Homework module, designed specifically to help teachers deliver the Government’s “learning anytime, anywhere” vision.

2006 was also the year EducationCity.com took the key strategic decision to launch in the United States and opened offices in October in Illinois.

2005

2005

With the advent of the Government’s elearning strategy, EducationCity.com developed and launched its SuccessTracker module and myCity feature.

These ground-breaking developments took EducationCity.com to the next level, offering teachers much appreciated support in tracking their pupils’ performance, allowing them to differentiate the learning in their classrooms effectively - and making personalised learning a real possibility!

By the end of 2005, EducationCity.com had over 1,500 subscribing schools.

2004

2004

Building on its success in England and Wales where it now had 650 schools, EducationCity.com tailored itself to the Scottish curriculum in 2004 and started to market itself in Scotland.

At the same time, in response to requests from parents who were hearing their children enthuse about EducationCity.com after school, the company launched its home product. This not only facilitated learning in the home setting, it also enabled parents to get more involved too.

Integral to its success, EducationCity.com’s new-found ability to link activities to the learning objectives enhanced the resource’s usability and made it a firm favourite with teaching staff.

1999

In 1999, initial work began by a team of 5 people on a 3 year development project to design online elearning content for primary schools.

The characters Stig, Sten, Manu and Klara are created (later receiving a facelift in 2008).

At the time the resource was called EducationCity.net (changing to EducationCity.com in 2003).
