Artists visit Oakham primary school for a lesson in illustration!
Local primary school Brooke Hill took a novel approach to a summer art project by inviting their favourite educational resource and local business - EducationCity.com - to host a lesson in illustration for pupils.

An opportunity for collaboration
Teacher Lynn Hall recognised an opportunity to engage with EducationCity.com (who have their own dedicated team of in-house artists) when her Year 3/4 class started a project called ‘through the eyes of the artist’. EducationCity.com artists Steff and Andrew, visited Brooke Hill Primary on Wednesday 13th July where they inspired pupils with a hands-on lesson in illustration.
Skilled and talented

The artists were extremely impressed with the children, ‘they got stuck right in and followed instructions really well’. Pupils Jimi and Lottie thought the experience was amazing; it only improved their art skills but gave them inspiration for what they would like to do as a job!
“The children had a wonderful time working with the artists and were thoroughly engaged. They are all using the skills they were taught in their art work already. It was lovely to see them enjoying themselves.” Lynn Hall.
“I would have loved to have had a visit from a professional artist when I was in school - I hope the experience will allow the kids to ask questions and learn how our characters are drawn, designed, coloured and produced by hand before the computer stage.” Andrew Platt, EducationCity.com artist.
