EducationCity.com has been busy getting involved in the local community recently, supporting two different events on the same day! It’s all part of our new drive to develop links with local colleges and raise our profile as an employer of choice within the community.

Here’s what we got up to…

Casterton Business and Enterprise College, Stamford

Matt and Hannah from the Art DepartmentMatt Plant, Head of Creative and Hannah Suppiah, one of our talented artists, spent the day at Casterton, talking to pupils about the skills required to work in the animation industry. They were allocated time with six different groups, to whom they explained their work at EducationCity.com, demonstrated the product and delivered a workshop about concept design. The day was aimed at Year 9s to give them a taster of potential careers and to help them decide which subjects to opt for.

After the event, Hannah said:

It was a great opportunity to introduce the students to animation and the rich variety of job roles it can lead to. We hope we have encouraged students considering a creative career to find out more!

Rutland County College, Oakham

James Lison and Kate Sanderson from EducationCityMeanwhile that evening, HR Manager, Kate Sanderson, went to the Rutland County College's Careers Evening accompanied by James Lison, Lead Maths Producer, James Rush, Sales Account Manager and Jamie Petterson, New Business Sales Executive.

The main message the team delivered was that whilst the students might be totally focussed on A-levels and university choices right now, there are some really great employment opportunities here should they want to return to Rutland in the future.

They also spent time talking to young people who had decided against further education and explained that there are some fantastic opportunities for them at EducationCity.com too.

But that wasn't all! As a bonus, we met some of the college's subject tutors, who want to work with us when they need local business input. This could range from EducationCity.com having work placement students to being the focus of students' assignments – and anything inbetween! As first steps, we've got a group of Business Studies students visiting the company in March and have tentatively agreed to help out with their Human Resources module.

Well done to the teams in orange!
