Frequently Asked Questions

  • Logging In

    What are individual logins?

EducationCity provides each user with different levels of access via user specific logins (Admin, Teacher and Student user). What you see on EducationCity depends on which user type you’ve been set up as.

    Student users can:

    • complete Classwork and Homework MyCities set by a teacher
    • access Revision Journals generated from Tests they’ve completed
    • view their own scores in MySuccess
    • pick and play any content their school subscribes to

Please note: If you’re concerned about students remembering usernames and passwords, they can use the ‘Pick name from a list’ option via the school login.

    Teachers can:

Administrators have full access to the school subscription. In addition to the features available to Teacher users (see above), Administrators can also set school-wide preferences, such as:

    • the login methods students use
    • print, timer and naming options that are shown within the content
    • which features students can access within and outside school hours

How do students log in at school?

The best way to give your students access to EducationCity is by setting up a shortcut to the login page on the desktop of each device you use - students can then navigate directly to EducationCity and log in using their own individual logins. Any Activities and Tests completed once students are logged in will then be recorded for you to view in SuccessTracker, and students can access their own MyCities, MySuccess and MyRevision areas.

If your school uses single sign on (SSO), logging in is slightly different. For more information, please see the Single Sign On (SSO) section of the FAQs.

How do students log in at home?

Your school will need to subscribe to Home Access for students to use EducationCity at home. Students can then log in via www.EducationCity.com using the same login details they use at school.

  • Trial Information

    What does a trial include?

A trial gives your school unlimited access to all of EducationCity’s educational resources and features for 21 days. During that time, you, your colleagues and students can access the resources completely free of charge.

Can I share my trial with colleagues?

Yes, please do. We’d encourage you to share your trial with your colleagues so your whole school can explore our resources at the earliest opportunity.

How do I cancel my free trial?

There’s no need to cancel your free trial. It will simply expire after the 21 days has passed.

  • Subscription

    What does a subscription include?

    An EducationCity subscription gives you:

    • Engaging, curriculum-linked primary teaching resources. These include Activities, Topic Tools, Learn Screens, PlayLive, ThinkIts and much more, all correlated to the curriculum that your school follows.
    • Time-saving planning and marking features. These include features such as MyCity, SuccessTracker and the Curriculum Map.
    • Access via all digital devices. An EducationCity subscription is not limited to one type of device. So as long as you’re connected to the Internet, you can use EducationCity on desktop computers, laptops, interactive whiteboards and even tablets!
    • Around-the-clock access for teachers. EducationCity is available for teachers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you can plan and review your lessons wherever and whenever you choose.
    • Access to classroom-based print-outs and topical teaching resources. We offer a whole range of teacher and classroom resources to help you embed EducationCity into your school, as well as topic-based resources to help you mark events as diverse as British Science Week and Chinese New Year.

For more information on our resources and features, visit our Explore page.

How much is it to subscribe?

I'm not from the UK. How do I subscribe to EducationCity?

Simply contact our International Sales Team on +44 (0)1572 492576. They’ll be happy to help and make sure your subscription links to the curriculum best suited to your needs.

  • Using EducationCity

Can EducationCity be used on tablet devices?

Yes. You can navigate through all of EducationCity, access our PlayLive games and view all Activity Sheets, Lesson Ideas and Teacher Notes on tablets.

For our Learn Screens, Activities and Tests we’ve added a icon, which you’ll see throughout the site, to help you easily identify which content can be used on tablets in an up-to-date web browser.

We’re constantly adding new tablet-friendly content for you to enjoy too. A quick way of seeing our new content (all of which is tablet-friendly!) is to go to the Teacher Area, which is accessible from the navigation bar, and select the ‘New Content’ tab.

For content without the icon, we recommend you use one of the browsers available that stream Flash content on tablet devices. We’re whitelisted on Puffin Academy, which is a free mobile Flash browser created specifically for teachers and students.

For more information on how to install Puffin Academy and use EducationCity on it, please click here for step-by-step instructions.

  • Home Access

    What is Home Access?

Home Access allows students to access EducationCity outside of school hours. This enables them to complete learning activities set as homework and study independently in their free time and holidays.

As with EducationCity content accessed at school, all Activities and Tests completed at home are automatically marked via SuccessTracker.

How much is it to add Home Access to my school’s subscription?

Home Access licences are just £2.25 per child per year in addition to your school subscription fee.

  • Special Educational Needs

Can EducationCity be used for students with special educational needs?

Definitely. EducationCity enables teachers to differentiate lesson content according to students’ aptitudes and abilities.

Our Activities, Learn Screens, Topic Tools and Activity Sheets support all the main learning styles using colour, sound, text, audio commentary, animated graphics and interactivity, to appeal to the widest possible range of users.

In addition, often the operating system’s settings can be used to increase the mouse pointer size on screen or vary the volume of the audio files to help students with visual/auditory issues.

    Is EducationCity inclusive?

Yes, EducationCity is an inclusive resource and we consider that very important. As such, we:

    • cater for different learning styles
    • build on children's interests and cultural experiences
    • use materials that reflect social and cultural diversity and positive images of race, gender and disability
    • deliver consistency in design and functionality
  • Single Sign On (SSO)

Can schools integrate EducationCity into their learning platforms?

EducationCity can be accessed through single sign on via Google for Education and Microsoft Office 365 for Education. For more information, please call us on +44 (0)1572 725080.

Once we’ve set your account up for single sign on within our system, please follow the step-by-step instructions to complete your setup.
