500 Words Competition Winners Will Be Announced Today!

The final will be broadcast today, live from Hampton Court Palace on BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans Breakfast Show – be sure to listen!

What is the 500 Words Competition?

It all started in 2011, when presenter, Chris Evans, had a dream to get children excited about reading and writing and since it began, it’s now one of the most successful story writing competitions ever!

So, let’s talk prizes!

As well as attending the final from Hampton Court Palace, where some star-studded celebrities will read the winning stories live, this year there’s an extra special prize for the 6 winners…

The super lucky 6 will take a ride around the Hampton Court Palace grounds in Chitty Chitty, Bang Bang, plus have tea on the Thames aboard Her Majesty The Queen’s row barge, Gloriana.

The winners from each category will receive:

  • Gold Winners: Chris Evans height in books (plus 500 books for their school)
  • Silver Winners: HRH The Duchess of Cornwall’s height in books
  • Bronze Winners: Their own height in books
