# Alternative Ways of Using Maths Worksheets

The worksheets on EducationCity (also known as Activity Sheets) are fantastic for some extra practice in certain subject areas, not to mention great for going alongside our Activities. Today, we wanted to show how you can use some of the worksheets in alternative ways to the usual question and answer format.

The recommended worksheets below start with the Activity they go alongside in the Maths module, so you can find them really easily when searching for them.

## Get Drawing!

Activity

Pets Corner – Use diagrams to sort data and objects using one criterion.

• England: Year 2
• Scotland: First *
• Wales: Reception & Year 2
• N. Ireland: P2

With this worksheet, Year 2 students can get really creative. This Activity and worksheet is perfect for teaching how to sort data and objects. Instead of being a worksheet where students answer questions, it’s one where they can draw. This is a great tool as students are more likely to remember animals and how you can split them into groups for data – it also gets them more engaged with the learning.

## Get Physical Examples!

Activity

Starship Sten – Find 1000 more or less than a given number.

• England: Year 4
• Scotland: First ***
• Wales: Year 4
• N. Ireland: P5

With this maths worksheet, you could also use physical examples alongside it. You could bring in items and then stick the price tags on them; students could then come up and increase the costs stated on the worksheet. The physical side of this activity makes the lessons more memorable, so it’s particularly beneficial for your kinaesthetic learners.

## Get Building!

Shape Shuttle – Identify and construct nets of 3D shapes.

• England: Year 6
• Scotland: Second **
• Wales: Year 5
• N. Ireland: P7

This maths worksheet asks you to look at nets for cubes and see which ones would make a cube and which would not. To make this maths worksheet a little different, you could actually create the nets and see if they construct a cube. It’ll mean your students can get hands on with a task which will make it even more engaging and enjoyable.
