Cute Craft Ideas for International Day of Friendship

The World Friendship Crusade, an international civil organisation that campaigns to foster a culture of peace through friendship, proposed the first World Friendship Day for 30 July 1958.

In 2011, the General Assembly of United Nations declared the 30th July as the International Day of Friendship and is based on the recognition of the relevance and importance of friendship around the world. To find out more, take a look at the organisation’s website.

To celebrate this special event, we’ve had a browse and found a few fun craft ideas we just had to share!

Tissue Paper FlowersTissue Paper Flowers

What you’ll need:

  • Different coloured sheets of tissue paper
  • Pipe cleaners (green is preferable)
  • Scissors

Method

  1. First, cut three sheets of tissue paper about 5 x 7”. Then, begin folding the shorter end, so it almost forms a zigzag pattern and all of the different colours are folded together.
  2. Gather the centre of the flower by wrapping a pipe cleaner around the middle.
  3. Then, snip each end of the tissue paper to make points. This will give the petals a nice shape.
  4. Carefully separate the layers of tissue paper to expose the flower – perfect!
