Get Involved with Sport Relief

EducationCity.com are proud to be supporting this year’s Sport Relief 2012 which is being held on Friday 23rd March!

Sport Relief encourages young people in schools to participate in doing sport, having fun and raising money so that everyone can do some good, feel good and change other people’s lives for the better. The money which is raised for this fantastic cause is spent by Comic Relief to help vulnerable people who are living incredibly tough lives both in the UK and in the world’s poorest countries. This year, Sport Relief hope that at least 500,000 young people will take part in a Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile at their school.

Fundraising Resource Packs

To help with the fundraising, Sport Relief have provided fabulous free Fundraising Resource Packs which are available to order online on the official Sports Relief website. The fundraising packs include everything to hold a fantastic Sport Relief event on Friday 23rd March and are tailored for both primary and secondary schools. They have fundraising guides, promotional posters and exclusive materials to decorate your classroom with. The pack also includes an animated CD-Rom and interactive story posters for the pupils to learn about how their fundraising benefits other young people in Comic Relief funded projects in Sierra Leone and the UK.

An example of one of the resources in the Primary pack is “Why Water Matters“, which is a citizenship, curriculum-linked lesson plan that includes a film and follow-on activities. This is a great way for your pupils to discover the impact that a lack of access to clean water can have on children around the world.

So bring your pupils together and participate in this fantastic active fundraising event which not only changes the world around them but makes them aware of how fun being active is and how important global citizenship is!

Check out the Sport Relief website for more information and for the free fundraising packs.
