New Additions to the Topic Tool Family! are happy to announce some new additions to the Topic Tools family!

The Circuits Tool and the Conductors Tool provide the user with an almost completely free environment to perform a range of electrical experiments. They place the user in a “simulation” mode, where they are free explore things in a realistic way.

The Circuits Tool allows the user to experiment with a range of different components in order to build electrical circuits. Each year has different components and items to help the user explore.

The Conductors Tool  is similar to the Circuits Tool, however, the user can experiment with different materials as well as the standard electrical components.

The Circuits Tool is available in the following years and regions:

  • England: Years 2, 4 and 6
  • Wales: Years 2, 4, 5 and 6
  • Scotland: Early ***, First *, First **, Second *, Second ** and Second ***
  • Northern Ireland: P3, P5, P6 and P7

The Conductors Tool is available in the following years and regions:

  • England: Year 4
  • Wales: Year 4
  • Scotland: Second * and Second **
  • Northern Ireland:P5 and P6

The Line Graph Tool is based on the recently upgraded Charts Tool and allows teachers to create a line graph from two sets of continuous data. As well as being able to create graphs, the tool also has the usual “random” functionality, which allows teachers to instantly generate meaningful data, from which they can then ask pupils related questions.

The Line Graph Tool is available in England Year 6 and Year 7. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland…watch this space!
