Rocks by Rail Charity Team Building Day

On Thursday 1st May, EducationCity’s newly formed Content & Curriculum Team headed over to Rocks by Rail, the living ironstone quarry and museum in Cottesmore for a company Charity Day.

The organisation relies solely on volunteers to carry out their work, so the 15 of us spent the day working onsite, splitting into smaller groups to take on various projects; we put our painting and gardening skills to good use in order to restore an old wagon at the loco yard, clear patches of land, and even got the chance to operate a diesel locomotive!

Towards the end of the day we had a tour of the quarry and learned more about the all the hard work that Rocks by Rail do. (http://www.rocks-by-rail.org/)

Everyone on the team had a thoroughly enjoyable day, working together and giving something back to the community.

We’d like to thank Robin, Gary, Trevor and the rest of the team at Rocks by Rail for making the day a huge success and hope to return again soon!
