We’ve World Book Day Ideas Galore!

Just in case you feel you’re running out of original ideas to celebrate the day though, and don’t want to resort to the run-of-the–mill dressing up, we’ve two excellent sources of inspiration to tell you about.

World Book Day Infographic

First of all, we’ve trawled the internet for school and classroom activities for World Book Day. We have popped all our ideas into the handy infographic at the base of this blog!

What You Can Get from This

No matter what the primary focus of your day is, there’s bound to be something new for you to adopt as is or put your own spin on. We’ve activities which focus on all of the following:

  • Increasing the amount your students read
  • Expanding the range your students read
  • Boosting parental involvement in your students’ reading
  • Developing characterisation skills
  • Developing story writing skills
  • General fun
  • Quizzes and games

In total, we’ve some 24 ideas, which include:

  • Book Swap: Everyone brings in a book they’ve enjoyed to put into a ‘swap bag’. Once all the book are together, each child dips into the bag to take away a book they may not have chosen themselves.
  • Invent a Class Character: Create a wild, wonderful, larger-than-life character as a class for each student to write a story about.
  • Book Quiz: Draw up a quiz pulling on your students’ favourite reads. Award a prize for the first correct quiz returned.
